Slagsta in drizzle

After a couple of hot and sunny weeks, today was overcast and somewhat cooler.

We saw the return of Peter after his shoulder problems.


I managed to capture one of the ospreys.


Went past Kungshatt (the Kings Hat) with its old summer houses.


A dizzy or artful shot of Peter.


Two thirds out and the drizzle began.


Passing the Slagsta ferry.


The drizzle intensified...


...and peaked.

Furusundsfjärden

Left work early and had a nice paddle in the northern half of the Furusund bay (Furusundsfjärden) with bro Magnus. Great to be on open water again. Forgot both GPS and camera at home, but cheating works too.

Around Bussholmen (2)

Took Anders and went clockwise this time.


Saw a cruise ship bound for Finland.


Morning of the midsummer day, so very quiet.


Risk for rain, but it came later. Hot inside.


On this second try, we found the right directions.


And even avoided the first water skier of the day (isn't that 80's stuff?).

Around Bussholmen

Visited Mia and the grandchildren at the rented cottage. Took Mia out for her first trip in over three years.


A nice afternoon.


We intended to round Sundholmen...


...but went around Lilla Svansen instead...


...and returned the same way we came...


... after some confusion.


We missed the Royal wedding, but here are the fighter jets on their way in to Stockholm in celebration of the event.


Mia got a good exercise.


Returning to the so called "road house".

Northwest of Färingsö

After four weekends of travel and other activity, joined Ulf and Piia and took the cars out to the Ekerö islands.


After a cold and windy week, today a sign of summer returned.


We tried the sound at Edgarnsö...


...Piia even lifted her kayak.


But gave up and returned. (You can carry across, but the shores are less kayak friendly).






Shortly thereafter we tried a reedy shore for lunch, but turned back when we saw a dead animal in the water, a large one too. Cut across to Skoggarn instead.




Melted away in the sun...






Rounded Stora Dansaren and returned to the cars...




..only to find fee-less parking tickets. It's really difficult to find places where you can both park and launch.

Skanstull

Beautiful day.


Crossed the lake and turned towards the city with the wind in the back.


Under the Essinge highway.


Passed Rejmersholm with leftovers from the aquavit plant.


How bad can it get? ("Bad" is Swedish for bathhouse).


The Södersjukhuset hospital.


Turned around into the wind at the Skanstull bridges.


A hard winter?


Took its toll on the old railroad bridge too.


Went into the canal between Rejmersholm and Södermalm. Lots of busy people, one of the big weekends for getting their boats in the water after the long and cold winter.


And the quiet of the Långholmen canal.


Back under the Essinge highway.


Fredhäll on the rock and in the sun.


Passed nicely situated apartments at the Essinge island.


And the view of the Tranebergs bridge.
